Ahmed Said Hansdot (known as ‘Said’) was born in Alunge, a small village in India. He came over to England in 1965 with his parents at the age of 5 and has lived in Gloucester ever since.
Said attended Widden School and started working in Birds Eye Walls in 1978. Whilst maintaining his role there, he also represented the BAEM Committee at a regional and national level as well as acting as a shop steward for the T & G Union.
He married Mamoona in 1978 and has 4 children aged 36, 33, 21 and 20.
Said retired from Birds Eye Walls in 2012 and started pursuing an active interest in local politics from 2009. He was elected as Councillor for the Barton and Tredworth area in 2010 and has served the Ward ever since that time. Said has had the honour of representing the City as Sheriff before in 2013. Said is also on the Board of Trustees for the Jamia Al Karim mosque.
He takes to his role as Property Maintenance with much vigour and revels in being able to provide support and his skills to the tasks at hand. In his spare time he enjoys taking on DIY projects and keeping fit.
