THE Sheriff of Nottingham has welcomed ten of his peers to the city, with even Robin Hood granted amnesty.
A 200-strong pageant trooped from the Council House in Old Market Square to St Mary’s Church in High Pavement yesterday.
Led by Nottingham’s Town Crier, Tom Huggan, and a marching band, the pageant marked the annual meeting of the Association of City and Town Sheriffs of England and Wales. Sheriffs attended from 15 towns and cities and the current Sheriff of Nottingham, Councillor Ian Malcolm, declared it “a fantastic day”.
“I’m very happy the procession came to Nottingham in my year as sheriff,” he added. “Everybody had a good time and even Robin Hood behaved.”
